ASHVEGAS article and little NC cinema tour this week....

Enjoyed a little road trip to Winston-Salem to tour A/perture Cinema and watch a couple of great movies.  Jessica gave us the full tour and we enjoyed two great films - Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (in their 80 seat theater) and The Yes Men Are Revolting (25 seat screening room).  Also in Winston Salem we visited one of the first theaters Steve managed, Thruway on Stratford Road.  The theater is long gone, eulogized only by the time capsule planted when it opened in 1969.

Then on to Lexington, NC to visit  the Lexington Cinema 8 where our friend Rob, who is reviving the former Carmike 8-Plex, was kind enough to share his expertise.

We were so excited on our drive to see that Jason Sandford had shared information about Grail Moviehouse on Ashvegas.  Thank you for getting the word out there!!

The wheels have been set in motion and we are on our way to making the Grail Moviehouse a reality.  With the lease signed, we are anxiously awaiting our final plans to submit them to the City of Asheville.  We spent the day working on removing some speakers from an old theater in Marion and taking apart a Century projector to add to the Grail's ambiance.  We returned home to our first ever twitter mention and Facebook like - courtesy of Asheville film critic Edwin Arnaudin.  Very exciting!!
